From the Helm

Greetings Club Members and Friends

With the recent boating event at Sloan’s Lake, the RMC boating year is now ended. With the fall and winter season promising to arrive, it’s a good time to work on those photo albums and – oh yes – create some material for our website via Mike Vannier. Hmm - I should talk. I have not delivered a thing to Mike as yet. So here is my open promise to get it done. Will others join me?

The 2011 season was superior on so many levels. Jeff Waco coordinated a great booth at the Denver Boat Show in January. Can’t we do pirates every year?

The Loveland event was well attended with great weather and again hosted in fine fashion by Rich and Lu Ball.

Grand Lake was never better. Thank you Braafs! The Saturday picnic was held at the water-front park because of safety concerns over the high flow through the connecting channel to Shadow Mtn. Lake. But no afternoon rains. What did that?

Frisco Show. Wayne and Bill rock! So many others contributed as well. Hey Mike and Diane Vannier with the club store – we’re talking about you too! And of course it was great to see Maggie and “Oyster” Pete right before their move to the Chesapeake region.

Doug Brown coordinated the Horsetooth event. Thank you, Doug! We look forward to you comments for 2012.

The Sloan’s Lake gathering was blessed by exceptional weather and good camaraderie as usual. Thank you, Mike Novick!

The President’s cup will be awarded at the annual meeting so any congrats now would spill the secret.

I cannot bypass my open and unabashed appreciation of our diligent club secretary and Bilge Pump editor - Vickie Rutkowski. She tells me that there is a good supply of “content” for this issue. Well done.

Looking ahead to next year, it appears the club will have a committed board to steer the RMC ship. I encourage those newer members who want to contribute to various functions, please step up and make yourselves known.

I personally wish to thank those members who have helped and encouraged me in the office of the President. I hope to bring to this position the leadership quality that RMC deserves in 2012.

The Best to You All,
Bob Phillips
